Our client phoned to request a site visit to enable us to provide a quote for the supply & installation of Window Graphic within the Special Care Baby Unit. They had recently ordered and installed some bespoke curtains within the Unit, to be told that the curtains do not meet Infection Control Standards.
Curtains are a multifunctional item found at windows. Curtains have been around for a long time, starting out as rudimentary pieces of cloth. Over the years, curtains have evolved into the basic stylish window treatment to the most elaborate creations designed out of some of the finest materials. The purpose of curtains is based on the room that they are hung in, and what it is that you want the curtains to accomplish.
Because pathogens may survive on hospital surfaces for days or weeks, this makes curtains potentially important vehicles for transmission of pathogens from prior room occupants to new patients. Curtains are used widely throughout the NHS in the UK to enhance patient privacy and dignity. However, in some Wards curtains are not a suitable method of achieving Privacy.
We left site, ‘armed’ with a sample of the fabric and tasked with recreating the design that we could then Digitally Print onto Frosted Window Film to achieve a friendly, Infection Control compliant solution while achieving Privacy 24 hours a day.
