‘Shoppers’ horror as glass falls from Asda ceiling and shatters next to family’

Shoppers gasped in horror when a pane of glass fell from the ceiling of an Asda supermarket and shattered next to a family with a baby.

A large pane of glass came loose from a ceiling inside the Walton Asda just before 7pm last night (Wednesday).

The pane landed on the floor and shattered next to a family who had just walked into the supermarket.

The baby was in a car seat when the pane hit the floor, and luckily the seat’s hood protected him from serious injury.

Staff at Asda provided the family with a change of baby clothes. The parents, from Walton, later phoned NHS direct for advice and then took the four-week-old baby to Alder Hey children’s hospital for a check-up.

Sureguard Window Films® offer a number of solutions that complement Window Films, along with Window and Partition Graphics we offer Edge Retention (aka Anchoring Systems). Edge Retention can be installed to glass treated with our Anti Shatter Security Window Films to Anchor treated glass to the existing framing system in the event of a breakage. Edge Retention offers the added benefit of holding broken glass within the frame system, meaning there is a reduced risk of injury from whole panels of treated glass falling from high level slopping roofs and causing injury (or worse).

At Sureguard Window Films® we have installed Edge Retention to overhead roof glazing  to offer protection when framing system fail or glass roof panels are broken/break. We have also treated vertical glazing within commercial properties for added protection in Bomb Blast Protection/Anti Shatter projects, along with added Security within domestic dwellings.

Aimee’s Nan has been robbed of her later life and has been suffering for a number of years and we want to do our bit to help rid this horrid disease. And we are sure they will have fun along the way.. or not! 😉

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia. The word dementia describes a set of symptoms that can include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. These symptoms occur when the brain is damaged by certain diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease. This page describes the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, how it is diagnosed, and the factors that can put someone at risk of developing it. It also describes the treatments and support that are currently available.

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
